Plain Adapter w/ Hold Down Slips

The RIGGER ENGINEERING plain adapter with hold down slips is used where the installed liner is short and light weight, usually under 30,000 pounds. The hold down slips serve to anchor the string on the bottom of the hole against being pulled up when running tools in and out of the hole. Otherwise the installation procedure is similar to the plain adapter. After the liner is set on bottom the drill pipe is rotated to the right six turns. Weight is applied via the rig to set the hold down slips. The drill pipe is lifted up to check if the slips have engaged the casing. Next the drill pipe is rotated to the right another six to nine turns to completely disengage the tool. The liner can now be cemented and the tools returned to the surface.
