The RIGGER ENGINEERING plain liner hanger with hold down slips is recommended for use in wells where the liner is to be relatively short and light…usually liners weighing less than 30,000 pounds. One of the problems with a short liner is the possibility of the liner hydraulicing back up the well during cementing or being accidentally dragged up the well when pulling tools. The hanger with hold down slips has a second row of slips that oppose the regular slips i.e. they are “upside down”. The hold down slips are weight set and lock the hanger into position so now the liner is not only hung but is prevented from being pulled up the well. The hold down slips are light duty so that if the liner has to be pulled at some future time they will break free with about 60,000 pounds of pull.
