Rigger Engineering has provided the oil industry with the finest and most cost effective liner hangers since 1978. Our liner hanger, variously known as the Baker Simplex and the Burns liner hanger, was originally developed in the late 1930′s. The hanger came about due to a collaboration between the Burns Tool Company and Union Oil of California (UNOCAL). Because of the unique recessed pocket design, this liner hanger quickly developed a reputation for being virtually failure proof. In addition it worked equally well in high angle holes without the concern of hanging up on ledges or dog-legs. Burns manufactured this tool for almost 40 years until they were bought out in 1977 by Lynes Packers, a subsidiary of Baker Hughes. Rigger Engineering was founded the following year by a former Burns Employee, Alan Stevenson.

Rigger Engineering took the original design concept and, over the years, has improved on it. Our constant design innovations have resulted in a much improved version of the hanger design originally developed by the Burns Tool Company. Years of development and research have resulted in a liner hanger that is arguably the most reliable in the industry, yet is still more cost effective and efficient than similar products. And Rigger continues to look for ways to make a better tool in today’s changing markets.
